1.      Henry Brown(1) was born in 1777. He died in 1848.

Not much is known about the background of Henry Brown although the time of his birth is right for his family to travel to Kentucky. Most likely he was born in Maryland or Virginia and migrated to Kentucky at the beginning of the 19th century. I have yet to locate his true parentage or place of birth.

The following is an abstract of the will of Henry Brown.

I Henry Brown of Washington County to settle this my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say:

1. I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Rebecca Brown one negro woman, Jenny, and one negro man named Issac, one hundred acres of land to be laid off on the same side of the land that the dwelling house stands upon, so as to unclude the buildings, two choices of my horses, two choices of my cows and calves, one third of my hogs and sheep and two choices of my feather beds and furniture during her natural life and after her death to be divided amongst my children as hereafter named in this my last will.

2. My will is that my executors whereafter named shall sell the ballence of my perishable property immediately after decease, and the money arising therefrom all my just debts and funeral expenses be paid from the balance.

The children of James Brown to be considered altogether as one heir to my estate.

7. I will and desire is that the amount of my estate that will fall to my daughter Sarah Farr I give exclusively to her and the heirs of her body forever and her husband Major Farr is to have no control over her portion of my estate that may fall at my death and also at the death of my wife and that it be entirely for the benefit of her and her children forever.

And lastly I do hereby constitute and appoint Henry Brown and William Brown my sons, Executors of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all others or former will or testaments by me heretofore made.
