Edwards School House Wilkerson Tombstone at Edwards Cemetery Many of the Wilkerson children attended school at the Edwards schoolhouse located in the old Edwards community west of Shortcreek, Grayson County, Ky. The school was built and paid for by Eight local families listed as: William Edwards, Wm. Ellison Payton, John England, Champion Edwards, John Young, J.M. Patterson, Green B. Gaither and Joseph P. Wilkerson (father to James Roach Wilkerson). The school was built in 1865-1866. The above picture shows the schoolhouse as it stood on Sept. 14, 2003 after many years of use. There is a cemetery located behind the schoolhouse and is where James Roach and wife Mary are buried. (See above picture). Two governors descended from William Edwards. There are Julian Morton Carol of Kentucky and James Burrows Edwards of South Carolina. James B. Edwards was the first Republican Governor in South Carolina in 100 years. He was also Secretary of Energy under President Ronald Reagan.

From Left Clockwise: Hazel Wilkerson, Shellie Wilkerson and Pauline Wilkerson Mary Magdelin Prewitt (daughter of William Prewitt and Sarah Adeline Willis) was born on 1 Jun 1883 in Litchfield, Grayson Co., Ky. She died on 27 Feb 1966 in Louisville Ky. Mary Prewitt died when she fell out of a second story window at the home of her daughter Shellie. She was buried on 1 Mar 1966 in Wilkerson Homestead, Shortcreek, Ky. James Roach Wilkerson and Mary Magdelin Pruitt had the following children:
