9. John Vessels ⁽¹⁾ was born in 1785 in Homesdel Monmouth New Jersey.
John served in the war of 1812 in the Great lakes area, and was discharged at Cincinnati, Oh. He never returned to his home in Washington Co. Ky. Nothing more is known of him. He and Polly had six daughters and one son, Thomas Vessels, who came to Meade Co. Ky. with his mother in 1831. Most likely some of his children, definitlely Mary Vessels who married Lewis Jarboe in MeadeCo. Ky. Thomas returned to Marion Co. (Formed out of Washington Co) to mary sarah O'Bryan and they returned to Meade Co., St. Theresa's Parish, To make their home. Another story has it that John had 7 daughter. Regardless we do not have all of the siblings listed anyway.

He was married to Mary [Polly] Peterson (daughter of Henry Peterson and Ealah [Ollie] Smock) on 1 Jun 1805 in Washington Co. Ky. Mary [Polly] Peterson ⁽¹⁾ was born in 1785. John Vessels and Mary [Polly] Peterson had the following children:
