FIFTH GENERATION

5. Garrett Smock Doctor (2)(1) was born on 25 Apr 1731 in Homesdel Monmouth New Jersey. He died in 1808 in Loretto, Marion County, Kentucky.

The Smock Family were very influential in the Marion county area. They even had a church named after the family. It is located about 3 miles from the Loretto Mother House on hwy 49 near Holy Cross, Ky.

The following is an abstract of the will of Doctor Garrett Smock, Taken from the Nelson County Ky. will book B, Page 52. Garrett Smock's Daughter Ealah Olive, Maried Henry Peterson. Ollie and Henry Peterson had a Daughter, Polly who maried Thomas Vessels.

Being in a low state of health, etc...

Item one: I give to my grand daughter Mary Vandike the tract of land on which I now live containing two hundred and thirty four acres dufing her life. And at her death to belong to her daughter Elizabeth Vandike and in case of said Elizabeth should die without any heirs the said land then is to belong to Jane Alvey and her heirs forever.

Item two: I give to Jane Alvey, wife of George Alvey one hundred acres of land on the plantation wheron Henry Patterson now lives. Said land to be laid off on the part of the plantation next to the said Alvey plantation.

Item three: I will unto Olive Peterson fifty acres of land on the plantation whereon Henry Perterson now lives for her natural life at her death it is to return to George Alvey and his wife Jane.

Iten four: I give unto my grand daughter Mary Vandike all my household furniture, plantation and kitchen utinsils of every descriptions. It is also my will that my stud horses or as many of my other horses as will purchase said Mary Vandike a negro man be sold for that purpose. I give unto said Mary Vandike all my stock of horses, black cattle, hogs sheep and poultry and at her death to belong to her daughter Elizabeth Vandike.

Item five: I appoint George Alvey, Thomas Harrison and Richard Vandike Executors of My will.

He was married to Jennetye Vandike in 1755 in Middletown, Monmouth, New Jersey. Jennetye Vandike (2)(1) was born in 1732 in Amwell New Jersey. She died in 1809 in Loretto, Marion County, Kentucky. Garrett Smock Doctor and Jennetye Vandike had the following children:
