Rhoda Edward (Eddie) Peak(2)
(1) was born on 31 Aug 1856. He was christened
on 26 Oct 1856 in St. Martin's Church, Flahrety, Ky. He died on 12 Sep 1929
in Evansville, In. He was buried in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Evansville, In.
Rhoda and Margaret were second cousins.
For twenty years Eddie worked as aLamplighter for the Southern Indiana Gas and
Light Company. At the start he had 118 lamp lights to attend to, but the number
gradually increased to more than 900 before electricity was introduced, and
the last gas lights finally disappeared from the streets around 1910. He stayed
with the company for more than 37 years, and was remembered with kindness by
many in his declining years because of his highly visible occupation in the gas
light days. Margaret Frances Peak and Rhoda Edward (Eddie) Peak had the following
