FIRST GENERATION

1.      Cornelius Noell Sr. (1) was born on 8 Nov 1623 in Leiden, Holland. He died Jun 6 1699 in Essex Co, Virginia.

Note: Cornelius Noel's will probated 6/10/1699 Bedford Co, Virginia leaves his land New Holland to his wife Elizabeth to son James, land called "New Holland"; dau. Eliz. Noell (under age) son Daniel Noell; dau. Mary Clutson, Dau. Margaret Connellie, sons Cornelius and James Noell (both under age.)


Petition for Citizenship: 8 Nov 1666, James City, Virginia. "Whereas Cornelius Noel hath long lived in this Country, servant and Freeman and of the Reformed Religion and hath taken Land with a full resolution to make his constant abode in this Country and to demean himself as a true and faithful servant towards his Majesty and his Leige people, hath petitioned he might be admitted a Denizen of this Country.

"It is by the Governor Council and Burgesses of this Grand Assembly Granted and Ordered that the said Cornelius Noel be made a free Denizen."

Cornelius Noel Sr. was born November 8, 1623 in Leiden, South Holland and died June 06, 1699 in Essex County, Virginia. He came to Virginia from the Netherlands and married Elizabeth Page there in 1660. Cornelius Noell was the founder of the Noel name in America. He received land in America on September 25, 1665. He was transported to Virginia by Thomas Panell before September 26, 1668, when Panell obtained a patent for 646 acres of land in Rappahannock County on the south side of the river, about four miles from the waterside, adjoining Mrs. Beheathland Gilson.  He was naturalized April 27, 1686. At that time he was living on the Rappahannock River in Virginia.  He named his land "New Holland".

 

Cornelius Noell Sr. married Elizabeth Page(1) (daughter of Thomas Page and Elizabeth Agnes Allen) was born in 1635 in London, England. Cornelius Noell and Elizabeth Page had the following children:
