Descendants of Walterus Longueville Lord of Overton, Huntingtonshire

In my attempts to research the ancestors of our ancestor James Vessels Sr. I have come across an extraordinary find. The following pages represent nearly 900 years of history going back to the dark ages England. The date...are you ready for this.... 1050 AD. That’s right 1050 AD. This is during the time in which William The Conqueror of Normandy completed his conquest of England and established an empire there that became the blueprint the English empire to come. A noblemen Named Sir Walterus Longueville is one of the characters in this family line and as far as I can tell he is only one of the progenitors of Nobel record in England that leads to the Vessels family. Now don't get too excited although it is one of the most intriguing find I have made so far, our blood line does not descend from this line. However it does descend all the way to one of the great grandsons of James Vessels Sr., Levi Vessels by virtue of the lineage of his mother, Mary Ann Moore, who was married to George Washington Vessels, Levi’s father. The other lineage in this line you will find here that are traced back to Mary Ann Moore goes back to 1185. That lineage starts with Thomas De Hayden: of Heydon in South Erpington, England a justice itinerant in Norfolk, 1221, with commission held directly from Henry III. One of the Hayden’s, William Hayden Esq., is buried at Westminster Abbey. London, England!

There is another lineage of note that traces to the Vessels family that is worth mentioning here. Charles Vessels, Son of James Vessels Sr. and father to George Washington Vessels, married a woman named Catherine Howard. Catherine Howard’s line is traced here to the late 1500’s to Sir John Howard, Knight of His Royal Highness Charles I.  Sir John Howard Traveled to the Americas with the same settlers brought from England to St. Mary’s City, Maryland, which is mentioned in the family tree of the Peake’s. Indians in Virginia killed Sir John Howard. The links above will take you to these other families.

The information listed here has not been completely proof read for errors so there maybe some mistakes. I also intend to further this study by documenting the life and times of some of the most noteworthy characters mentioned here. Please check the site often as it is still evolving!
