FIRST GENERATION
1. James Blain was born in 1770.
James Blain is supposed to have been the progenitor of the Blain Family although
no certification has been found and no record of his wife exist.
The following account of his life does exist. James Blain was born about 1770.
He lived in Abbeville, SC. He married and had several children. He served in
the war of 1812 where he ran into his son who had also enlisted. He was in Capt.
Aaron Hart's company of Infantry 13 Regimented Ky. Detached Militia.
It is sure that the family migrated to Kentucky around 1810 after the census
had been taken as both James and William Caldwell Enlisted in the Militia in
Kentucky in 1812.
The 1800 Green County Ky. Tax List is as follows:
James Blain 5 pieces of land, 1000A on Russell Creek 1662 2/3 A 3rd rate land
on Little Barren River: 1000A 3rd rate land on Little Barren River; 1000A 3rd
rate land on Russell Creek; 1000A 1st rate land in Mercer County on Shawnee Run.
1-White male over 21.
7-White children 16-21.
7-Negroes above 16.
20 Total Negroes.
14 Horses.
